Girls Varsity Softball · Softball: Six-run first lifts White House past Sycamore

PLEASANT VIEW – A bounce back win was just what the doctor ordered for White House on Tuesday as a six-run first inning led the Lady Devils to a 9-5 win at Sycamore.

White House (1-1, 1-1) secured its first District 9-AA victory as Kate Tobin (1-0) threw a complete game with five runs allowed and a strikeout, and also went 3-of-4 at the plate with a run scored and a RBI.

Mallory Gut was one of six Lady Devils with at least two hits, as she was 2-5, then Sydnee Frakes went 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Miranda Cain was 2-4 with two RBI and a run. Gabby Crousser was 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Kennedy Butterworth went 2-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

Kaylee Rogers and Hannah Crabtree all had a base hit.

Pinkston was 3-4 with a home run and two RBI and two runs scored for Sycamore.

McLachlan took the loss, pitching four innings with seven runs on nine hits and two walks with a strikeout. Pinkston allowed two runs in relief and allowed six hits and two walks.

White House competes in the Commando Classic this week in Hendersonville.
