HENDERSONVILLE – White House fell to 1-3 for the early season with a pair of losses to higher classification teams Wednesday at the Commando Classic at Drakes Creek Park.

Beech defeated the Lady Devils 3-2, and Mt. Juliet won 9-0.

The Lady Buccaneers got a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the win.

Mallory Gut was 1-for-2 with a two-run home run to give White House a 2-1 lead in the top of the second. Kate Tobin had two hits for the Lady Devils, but Miranda Cain and Kaylee Rogers provided the only other hits in the game with one apiece.

Gut (0-2) was a tough-luck loser in 3 2/3 innings, allowing just three runs on four hits with five walks, but Beech picked up one run each in the first, third and fourth.

Robyn Atkins got the win for Beech with two runs on five hits and five strikeouts in four innings. Carly Sperlich led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.

Tobin suffered her first loss of the year (1-1) when the Lady Golden Bears scored eight runs in the second inning for a 9-0 win over White House.

Kara Hood was 2-4 at the plate, but Gabby Faccadio, Makayla Draper and Kaileigh Billington each had two RBIs. White House made six errors defensively and Draper had the only extra base hit of the game with a double.

Alyssa Costley and Ashley Dowling combined for a one-hit shutout for Mt. Juliet in the circle, striking out three White House batters and walking none. A second-inning hit for Miranda Cain with two outs was the only baserunner of the game for WHHS.
